This Privacy Policy explains what information the OarLog app (“OarLog”, “the app”, “we”) processes, why, and the choices you have. OarLog is a shared club logbook, so some data is visible to your club — we keep everything else lean and collect as little as possible.
Information you and your club provide
To run a shared logbook, OarLog stores the data a club needs to keep its own records:
- your account identifier and email address (used for sign-in)
- your name and role in the club (for example rower, cox, captain), so crews and rosters make sense
- the trips you log — the boat, crew, route, distance, and start and end times
- boats in the fleet and any damage or maintenance reports members submit
Within your club, this information is visible to other members and administrators — that is the point of a shared logbook. It is not shared with other clubs.
How your data is used
We use this data only to provide the logbook and the features built on it:
- showing the live board (who’s out, which boats are free, what needs repair)
- keeping each rower’s season distance and the club leaderboard
- giving captains and equipment managers the fleet, roster and maintenance views
Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising.
Data stored on your device
For quick logging at the dock — including offline and kiosk use on a shared boathouse tablet — OarLog also caches your club’s logbook data on the device, and stores app settings such as the selected theme. This local copy syncs with our servers when a connection is available.
Third parties
OarLog relies on infrastructure providers that process data only as needed to run the service, each under its own privacy terms — for account authentication, encrypted storage, and synchronising data between device and server. We do not integrate advertising or analytics SDKs that track you across apps.
Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your data at any time. Deleting your account removes your personal profile from our servers; trips you logged may remain in the club’s logbook in anonymised form, as part of the club’s own records. Your club administrator can also help with roster changes. To make a request, contact us at the address below.
Children
Many rowing clubs include junior members. Where a member is a minor, their club is responsible for obtaining any consent required under local law before adding them to the logbook.
